Abstract:

Photographs show a long line of people walking, carrying a sign which reads "Fellow Worker McKay Murdered at Bay City Mill by a Co. Gunman May 3rd, 1923 A victim of capitalistic greed. WE NEVER FORGET!" The same sign is present at the grave, where many onlookers surround girls with floral wreaths and other tributes.

The Lumberman and Longshoreman strike in Gray's Harbor, Wash. was to effect the release of I.W.W. members imprisioned following the Centralia episode. During this strike, which ended May 13th, 1923, a stoker at a lumber mill was killed (c.f. New York Times, May 14 1923, 8:1)
